While I have searched relentlessly in the D/FW, TX area to find such MeetUp Groups that you talk about what I have found is that the groups that have been formed around the IM business have started then stopped for various reasons. I decided to contact some of the people directly from the now defunct MeetUp groups to see if I could start a MeetUp group myself. What I have found is that most of the true IM people have told me that they don't have the time or energy to be involved in this type of MeetUp group because they are way ahead (and/or sometimes way behind)the people they meet at these groups. Discourageing to say the least, but I am certain if I keep trying in the months to come that I will find the right mix of people to get a MeetUp group of my own started and like minded people will benefit from my efforts. So if you know anyone in the D/FW, TX area that want to come together and share their experiences, knowledge and guidance please share my contact information with them.
