Virtual Employees in India – Safety for them – Safety for your business

November 28, 2008 · Filed Under misc · Comment

First, let me say that all my employees in India are safe. It saddens me to think about the terror attack that has happened (and is still happening) over in Mumbai. As I am, I hope you will keep them in your prayers.

I love the people in India.

Returning just this last July from the same area where the attacks are happening, it really makes you stop and think. Most people here in the U.S. don’t know anything about India. I’m hoping that people here don’t get the wrong idea about the people over there. It truly is one of my favorite places in the world to be.

Now if you do business over there like I do, you usually think of of two things when something like this happens.

1. Are my employees safe?

2. How is this going to effect my business?

You should always have emergency contact information for your employees….. not just for situations like what is going on right now but for when minor emergencies like power outages, floods, fires, political unrest…… I guess those are major too…..

When emergencies happen, how long is it going to take your business down? Hours? Days? Weeks?

What should your backup plan be for cases like this?

As your business overseas expands, I would be recommending spreading out your teams…… don’t have them all in the same building if you can. For example, I have a team in two different regions of India…… hundreds of miles away from each other. Chances are, if a disaster happens in one location, I can shift tasks to the other office while we pick up the pieces.

Also make sure you always have important data stored in several places….. not just on employees’ computers. Use a backup service or get employees to ftp important files on a regular basis.

Always have a back-up plan….. especially when you are planning a product launch and thousands of dollars are on the line.

Clickbank Meets Adsense – New Adserver Platform Announced

November 25, 2008 · Filed Under clickbank · Comment

For those of you out there who love promoting Clickbank products….. I’m one of those….. they announced a few days back that they will soon be introducing a full blown ad serving platform.

What will this mean to you? Well, as a product owner, it means your product can potentially start getting a LOT more traffic…… Think “Adwords Content Network” for your clickbank product….. except I’m guessing it will start out to be free…… but I’m sure “Premium” ad placements may be part of the deal……

For Publishers, this is going to be a nice source of income for those that target the right niches……. think Adsense type income but potentially bigger.

It will only work for certain markets….. as long has there are clickbank products to support them….

So who thinks we will start seeing “MFC” sites soon? (Made For Clickbank)

My 5 Year Hero #2 – David Frey

November 25, 2008 · Filed Under misc, people · Comment

Yesterday I started sharing with you some of the people who have influenced me the most since I started my Internet Marketing business 5 years ago. Today I continue with the next person who has helped me along my path.

Hero #2

David Frey

David Frey

I actually went to college with Dave. We attended the same church and did a lot of fishing together. He was on his way to becoming a CPA if I remember right. After college, I pretty much lost track of him.

Then one day as I was at the height of my eBay business, I came across his “e-book” at http://themarketingbible.com .

I had never even heard of an “e-book” before. Anyway, long story short….. it was a GREAT……. not an Internet Marketing book but an excellent guide for small business marketing. After persuading him to tell me how much he was making a month off that one book…. (took me a few months to get him to confess)….. I promptly changed my business plan THAT DAY and decided to throw in the towel on my eBay business.

Dave has helped me tremendously over the years…… in fact it was a conversation with Dave that led to an idea that started a seven figure business for me.

He is a walking encyclopedia…… knows every link, tool, and person in Internet Marketing. And he is not just into Internet Marketing……. in fact, that last few years, he has been KILLING IT with his SendOutCards business.

There are only 3 or 4 newsletters that I read religiously…… Dave’s “Small Business Marketing Newsletter” is one of those. http://marketingbestpractices.com

Besides being a great businessman, he is a great family man and community servant. This summer, his office was completely destroyed by a hurricane……instead of feeling all bad about himself, he spent several weeks helping OTHER people clean up their messes.

A great role model.

I highly recommend that you visit his sites today.
